The speaker selector concept has been around for decades as a device that enables you to connect multiple speakers, throughout the home, to your stereo system, and turn the speakers on or off. A good concept, but it requires you to either walk to the selector each time you want to control the audio or use clunky volume controls at each speaker location. Not anymore! Introducing the most exciting advancement in the history of speaker selector products: The ATON? DLA 2 Room Speaker Level Audio Router (DLA6) with RF and IR control options.

Easy Control, the Aton DLA6 offers easy to use options for system control in any room, by adding a hardwired touch pad, a wireless handheld remote control.

Wireless Control - Add wireless receiver and remotes, and control your speaker selector from anywhere.
Keypad Control - Add in-wall touch-pads to control volume, and on/off from any room.

The reason we chose this system is simple. We sell quite a few home theater receivers that have 7 channel’s and our clients often only use 5 of those channels. You may have that old 2 channel receiver sitting around doing nothing too. The Aton DLA speaker selectors are better than the typical speaker selector. Instead of use basic caps and coils inside the box the DLA uses independent electronic volume controls. This is better for higher power receivers and it provides better overall audio quality to each room with very little power wasted in the form of heat. Another cool thing about this system is the use of the keypads (DLATP’s). These give you the ability to power on/off, volume up/down, mute and pass IR signal to the head end. You can connect IR flashers from the DLA to your sources to control them through the DLA6.

Pros:
Better sound quality with the DLA selector, more control than a normal selector, nice upgraded speakers, easy to install, VERY easy to use, makes your extra channels on your receiver useful, comes with all the wire you need.

Cons:
Not much to complain about, but it still doesn’t control my iPod.

About DLA Technology (Dynamic Level Adjustment)
Unlike typical speaker selectors that use basic impedance correction, the ATON DLA6 utilizes a logic circuit that actively monitors how many rooms are on, along with their respective volume levels, and delivers maximum available power to each room - simultaneously protecting the DLA6 and the amplifier from damage. Each DLA6 room output features an electronically controlled potentiometer, built with the highest-grade materials available to ensure super-flat frequency response and high power handling (125 W). *Patent Pending

RF & IR Control Options
Electronic controls on the front of the DLA6 provide true ease of use of all system functions. But what puts DLA routers in a class of their own are the additional RF and IR control options. Using the industry's first RF remote for a speaker selector/router, you can adjust audio in each room with volume, mute, all on/off and unique "sound scene" commands from anywhere inside or outside the home (up to 200 feet away). And utilizing in-room IR receivers or touch pads you can control the DLA6 as well as all connected audio sources such as CD players and radio tuners.

Plug & Play
The DLA6 easily connects to your home theater/stereo receiver and up to two pairs of wired speakers routed throughout the home. If you already have a basic speaker selector, the DLA quickly replaces your existing selector and allows you to play and control your favorite music like never before.

Basic Installation Steps

Step 1: Install Receiver;

Select well ventilated area to install amplifier and sources.
Connect sources (CD Player, Cable box) using RCA cables (Not included)
Connect speaker wire to output terminals

Step 2: Install Speaker Selector

Select a convenient mounting location for the DLA6.
Run all the necessary wiring to the DLA6. Label the wires for future reference.
Strip 1/4" of insulation from the end of each wire. Tightly twist the end of each wire until no frayed ends remain.
Insert each wire into the appropriate hole on the removable connector plug, and snap the locking tab down.
Terminate the Cat5 Cable with an RJ45 connector, using the T568A standard.
Insert the smooth side of the connector plug into the smooth side of the socket
Locate the pre-printed Room Labels. Affix the appropriate label to the recessed area over each on/off selector button.

Step 3: Pre-Wire House

Run included Cat5 wire from the DLA6 to each rooms volume control location.
Run Includes Speaker wire from DLA6 to each speaker location
Install a Single Gang Electrical Box at the Volume Control Location
Leave 6-12 inches of Cat5 coiled up in the electrical box, and 6-12 Inches of speaker wire at speaker locations. Giving yourself plenty of slack for later install on finish-out
Use the speaker cut-out template to make the proper openings in the ceiling. Use a stud finder if needed to ensure you cut between joists.

Step 4: Install Volume Controls and Speakers

Disconnect amplifier from electricity before starting.
Terminate the Cat5 with an RJ45 connector using the T568A standard
Cut 1/4" of speaker wire at the speaker locations - Twist bare wires tightly making sure their are no frayed wires.
Secure each wire from the speaker selector to its respective connector.
Make connections from the DLA6 to the speakers are using the same L +/-, R +/- color scheme.
Carefully place the Volume Control in the rough-in box making sure not to put strain on the connections.
Connect and carefully install the speakers into their pre-cut holes, then install the metal grills.
