Phoenix Gold Speaker Selectors - 8 zone
Dual Source Speaker Selectors with Manual Protection Switch
Distribute and Select between two sources for up to 8 different zones
The DSSM4, DSSM6 and DSSM8 are low-profile speaker distribution systems with
individual on/off selectors for each listening zone which distribute one stereo
speaker-level signal to eight, six or four stereo listening zones. The ISM Series
also provides manual power protection that is activated from the rear panel.
The DSSM Systems offer individual front panel push button selection for each
zone of either source "A" or "B".
How Does this Work?
A speaker selector will allow you to connect any group of speakers to your
a single amplifier / receiver. You can then select what rooms you wish the
speakers to turn on, allowing you to listen to music, or your favorite team
play through out any selected rooms.
This unit also features a Dual Source selector - allowing
different rooms to listen to differnt things. If you have two speaker level
outputs, you can select which sets of speakers will listen to the ball game,
while others may want to listen to music.
How Do I Connect it?
Connecting these speaker selectors is very simple. Connect the speaker ouput
(Right and Left) from your amplifier / receiver, to the input
on the speaker selector. You then run speaker wire from each
output zone, to your Local Room Impedence Matching Volume Control.
You then connect the Speakers to the volume control. Then
Start Listening!
The manual power protection switch engages 10 ohm /15 watt resistors wired
in parallel, three per channel in the DSSM8 or two per channel in the DSSM6/DSSM4
providing higher power handling capability than the competition (able to handle
up to 50% more power!) in order to protect your amplifier. All DSSM’s are capable
of handling 140 watts per channel total input power without the manual protection
engaged and 70 watts per channel with the protection engaged.
The spring-loaded guillotine-style push terminals accept up to 12 gauge cable.
A daisy-chain output terminal allows you to connect several speaker selectors
together for almost limitless combinations! The DSSM’s feature 16 gauge steel
construction with our durable black wrinkle powder coating and gray silk-screening.
Each unit is provided with an in-depth instruction sheet and die cut labels
that fit the recessed area on the buttons for labeling each zone. The 8.5" chassis
width of the DSSM4 combines with other 8.5" wide Phoenix Gold components (which
will be available in the future) to make a standard 17" wide unit.
