Basic Installation Steps
Step 1: Locate and Install Wall Boxes (Prior to Drywall)
- Determine the location for each room station and mount a 2-gang j-box.
- Determine the location for each outdoor station and mount an 2-gang exterior J-box.
- *Optional – Determine the location for any LCD Screens and mount a 3-gang J-box.
- Determine a location to serve as your “Head End” to mount the intercom patch panel. (Typically a wiring closet or utility room)
Step 2: Pre-Wire the House
- Pull 1 Cat5 cable from your “Head End” location to each Wall Box.
- Label each wire on both ends indicating location.
- Leave cables hang with plenty of slack behind box.
Step 3: Install Intercom Components (After Walls are Finished)
- 1. Terminate each end of each Cat5 cable with an RJ45 connector
- 2. Connect RJ45 connector to intercom patch panel and Room stations.
- 3. Install each intercom sub-station into the wall box
- 4. Install intercom decora face plate.
Step 4: Apply Power and Setup
- Plug in power supply to distribution module
- Name each room and door
- Test system for functionality
